TEMPORARY SHELTERS… FOR VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS

Location… México DF

Date… 1994

Author… Adriana Monroy Noriega

Human life is exposed to a wide variety of risks that affect and condition it. One of the most important goals of society is to keep human beings safe. Natural disasters as well as those caused by men constitute a serious threat to the wellness and stability of any nation in the world.
Today, in spite of the remarkable technological progress, humanity is still defenseless and vulnerable to natural disasters. Many of these continue to leave people without a home, food and other items that are essential to life.
The TEMPORARY SHELTERS FOR VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS provide provisional homing facilities, as an immediate, visible and efficient response to casualties, through a system of prefabricated modules that can be easily assembled. The modules come in family and communitarian packages for easy distribution.
This type of project also applies to a variety of situations:
Infrastructure construction (highways, railroads, seaports)
Industrial development in remote areas (mines)
Marine, geography or anthropology research projects
Health campaigns (vaccination)
Aid programs in marginated communities (literacy campaigns)
Military activities in isolated regions
Social shelters for homeless people
Future projects for spatial exploration
