Lux Villa Coapa resulted from the design and adaptation of a commercial spot in the south of Mexico City. The main objective was to generate a multiple use space where electrical appliances could be shown and sold at the same time the place functioned as an administrative office and a training workshop for the sales staff.
The requirements of the commercial space established the basis of our design. Because of its irregular shape, the area was divided with two main axis, marked by a curtains of sliding doors. The back remained a versatile space: two offices that could be joined and become a unique space to be used as a workshop. A security black box, the register and the main office were set in the middle of the area, while the whole front with a view to the exterior façade through a glass wall was kept free of divisions to create an open exhibit area.
The materials were used to complete the image of the project. Wood beams and white boards unify the site. The central security black box represents the strength of stone while the translucent glass fixes color and emphasizes the flexibility of the spaces. The furnishings are basically made of wood.
The global design of the project, from the concept to the constructed site itself, projects simplicity, functionality, and harmony.
