ZMALI BOOKCASE…
FURNITURE

Client… Private Location… México DF Date… 2010 Author… Adriana Monroy Staff… Javier Salinas

The central idea is to design a multi-functional piece that fits in a small-scale space and meets the various tasks it was intended to fulfill, optimizing the space it was built into.
It consists of two main volumes. The first is formed by a closed filing cabinet with six independent sections that serve also as the base of opened shelves. The second is made of two independent working stations that embody two removable tables, measuring 1.5 meters long by 50 cms wide, sliding out at a perpendicular angle and revealing open keeping spaces on a series of drawers. The bookcase is 60 cms deep which duplicates its linear keeping capacity.
The closing image of the bookcase consists of two panels made up of high quality selected cherry and zebrano mali wood, that combine and contrast making the piece dynamic. The iron fittings and opening mechanisms are not visible except for those that open the removable tables proposed in stainless steel.
