Housing should become an integral part of the cityscape. It is essential that people live in the happening part of town. This project intends to implement a series of strategies that make it profitable and eco-friendly. This building has been conceived as an urban element that restores green to the city and avoids a deep footprint in the environment integrating housing and city life.
The building itself acts as an air filter. All the façades that compose the structure play an important functional and aesthetic role. The main façade generates an interesting moving layer of different colors and textures acting as a sifter, when the polluted air of the city hits the building structure, particles are filtered through it keeping the dust and noise from the street. It also helps preserve a pleasant temperature inside the apartments while providing each space with a flexible privacy. The internal façades are restricted with two vertical gardens that conform the limits of the vertical circulation which filter the rain water to an alternate container for certain uses. The roof is a common garden which promotes outdoor socializing and a feeling of wellbeing. It also minimizes the effect of the so called “islands of heat” in the city.
Illumination of common areas comes from the sun. Solar panels will be placed on top of the building to generate electricity which will be used in an intelligent way and movement sensors will be installed in general areas.
This housing project holds 20 apartments with a functional design, with vertical gardens that promote sustainable features which with the implementation of technology, will result in a more efficient use of energy and a contribution to the reduction of carbon dioxide.
